I’m sure you’re wanting to level up your business. Maybe you’re wanting to scale rapidly. If that is the case then paid systems are always more preferable but if you’re wanting to dip your toe in and see what’s out there and you could possible start using that’s got a free version here’s our top picks:
For project management:
- Teams. If you already a Microsoft subscription then using Teams and the Tasks by Planner app is going to be a game changer for you. It’s easy to use and set up and won’t cost you anything.
- Asana. The free version actually has quite a lot of capabilities. Great for managing large teams. If you have Microsoft as well, this will integrate with your Teams so you can have it all in one place.
- Teamwork. Again like Asana the free version has some great functionality and it integrates with heaps of other programs including Teams. If you don’t have Microsoft then having a platform for project management that’s free is a great option
For Documenting processes:
- Teams. If you have Microsoft teams you can screen record or get it to note take for you. It’s ok but I would say not my number one.
- Scribe. This is my number one. It screen records and then spits out a word doc with screenshots. It can be added as an extension to Chrome so it’s easy to switch on and record. The free version lets you do a certain amount of processes so if you have a few you’ll need a paid subscription.
- Loom. This is video based and would record either just your screen, just your face or both. It won’t spit out a word document though this is just a screen recorder. I like this for onboarding videos. Teams would do exactly the same though as there are a limit to how many videos you can do on Loom for free.
For time tracking:
- Harvest. We actually use the paid version of this as we have multiple team members using it. You can however utilise 1 seat and 2 projects for free and it’s great to keep track of your productivity.
- Toggl. This one has more functionality as a free version and you’ll be able to track far more projects. I prefer the look of Harvest but as a free version this offers much more.
Of course there’s a million systems out there but if you can track your productivity, project manage and document all your processes all for free I think that’s a pretty good start!
Let us know if you have any other faves!
Cheers
