One minute everything is going great and it’s so good. You’re catching up with friends for coffee, your revenue is up. You’re spending quality time with the kids and life is just bloody great.
Then its not. Your sales are down, your pipeline is a dry as your mouth after a night on the tequila and you’re spending evenings and weekends frantically drafting THE PERFECT social media posts that will 100% get you 3 more clients before the end of the month.
See. Sucks.
Let me make it clear. I LOVE being a business owner. It’s my jam, I love connecting with new people, seeing their businesses thrive and my team, well my team, not only do I get to pick them I picked bloody well if I do say so myself. They are a dream!
That’s not just coming from me our clients love them as well.
But wearing all the hats and taking on all the risk can be really rubbish.
I think a game changer for me was when I thought I needed a stupid amount of new clients to be able to survive. I thought I needed at least 5 new clients within a month or I wasn’t going to be able to feed my kids. I genuinely thought this. I felt guilty, useless and scared all at once. I couldn't see the next steps and did the ol' ostrich approach.
It wasn’t until I broke things down with my coach I actually needed 5 more for THE YEAR to reach my goals. Not feed my kids (drama queen)but just reach my goals. This was back in March as well so was 100% doable!
In fact, I’d put the game changing thing not as that moment of realisation but my coach herself. So, my people. My coach and other businesses owners to talk to, share the panic, talk it through and realise number 1, we’re all in the same boat and number 2 it’s not as bad as you’re letting yourself think.
Business really does suck sometimes but surrounding yourself with the right people will not only make it fun when things are good. They’re there to lean on when things aren’t as rosy.
Its so hard, but it’s so bloody worth it!
If you’re stressing right now reach out, I’d love to have acoffee even if it’s over zoom
